not sure how I feel about this. I think it’s great on one hand, and I think it’s marketing gone overboard on the other hand.
I cannot wait to see tonight’s episode. How is Ron going to run a marathon with his health history? That’s just foolish.

DUDE! I just read this this morning. I have mixed feelings about stuff like this. On one hand, I love the recognition for the sport - I love that people set that goal for themselves. I think a lot of people will see that and think - my goodness. And Ironman will be known to thousand that might not otherwise have known.
But what chaps my hide is the free Kona spot. Kona being the World Championship and all. I mean - why not give them a spot at IM Arizona or soemthing - yeah I know- it's becuase Kona is the big one that NBC broadcasts. But think of all the people that bust ass to EARN their spot, and now they apparently are giving them away to pseudo-celebrities for a little press.
I don't know if you saw that one girl's blog post - the one who ran the Nashville marathon with Dane from BL, but she said that apparently his partner Blaine was offered a Kona spot too. The link is in the comment section of my Nashville post.
Agreed about Ron - he bugs the doody out of me. Always has. They never show him actually working out, so I dimply don't know who he has managed to lose the weight.
But I'll still watch it....
I'm completely against him and any other celebrity getting a free invite to Kona just because of their status and not because they actually earned it.
I understand it brings recognition to the sport, but the big wigs at Ironman can do that just as easily by having them enter one of the many other Ironman's out there.
To me it's a slap in the face for all those folks out there busting their butts that really want to qualify.
I don't know much about Ironman and really anything else, but I do know that Ron didn't even finish the half marathon so I'm pretty sure he won't be coming anywhere NEAR the finish line of a full. Not to mention that even though the contestants have been working out a lot... they haven't been doing distance running much, have they? Couldn't that be bad?
Then again, what do I know? I'm no runner... :)
are you watching this crap?!?!?! 26 days to try to run a marathon is just plan stupid.
plus, i think it sends the wrong message to people that you can do that. its not realistic. or safe.
ok really? did that happen last ngiht?
maybe they should have done a 10k like most normal people start with. i mean that's challenging, too!
Ron's gotta go.
Clearly Tara is going to win this.
